Your first blog stories

Hi all,
Here is what you will be doing for the first blog stories:
Advancer story on upcoming event - due Feb. 5th on the blog. What you need to do by Thursday:

  • Find an event and the contact person
  • Email, call, or drop in on the contact person - you will be wanting to know what is different this year from the event last year OR what is happening right now in preparation.
  • 5 graph on the blog Sunday by midnight
Speaker story - either on Political misperceptions - 3 p.m. on Feb. 3rd OR Las Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo 7 p.m. Feb. 7th.
  • Research before the event
  • Arrive earlier, find your "little person" part of the story. Make arrangements to find them later.
  • Listen - take notes.  Look for your lead.
  • Ask questions when you are there - of the speaker, of the organizer.
  • Lay out your story and write it.  There is no reason not to get this done earlier while the event and information is fresh in your head.

Welcome to JMC 3003

  Hi everyone,
Welcome to JMC 3003.  We have a lot to do this semester, so get ready! First, a bit of house keeping.  There are a number of locations you will be using to get files, post your assignments, and use for your stories.  Here is a basic rundown on what is where for this class.
  • CLASS MATERIALS - are here on the blog and in your 3003 packet. Syllabus, assignments, etc. are found on the link page.  The class calendar is embedded on each page. I will also post here throughout the semester.
  • GRADING and TURNING IN ASSIGNMENTS: D2L. I will keep your grades there and you will drop your completed assignments, reading assignments, etc. in the drop box on D2L.
  • MEDIA MATERIALS - you will need some code and other media for this class. You can find that on DropBox.com.
